Little Camper

I was so bad at keeping up with our blog last year, but I wanted to share some of our favorite sessions. Mom called me to schedule M’s birthday session. Every year we do a session that is all about her playing, just being her. We then design a book for mom. They are like a yearly progression of M’s life. Each year there are new toys, or new activities, depending on what she is into that year. This year I wanted to try a tent. So, I made a patchwork tent. Mom took the idea and ran with it! We started with a little fishing expedition to the pond. Such a little actress! No hook on the end, but she was pulling like there was a big old fish on the line!

Next, we went back to the ‘camp’ and had her build a fire! Mom had gathered stones and sticks and an old lantern to add to the set.

Little brother usually gets in on the act at some point during her session. Roasting marshmallows seemed to be the perfect time to add him.

Even mom and gram got in on a few marshmallow photos.

It was such a fun session and it is truly an honor to be able to document a child’s life like this. We really do love our clients, and think of them as part of the family.

Puppy shoot! (and people too)

Right before Christmas we got a call. Do you shoot pets? Yes! We love to shoot pets! Especially dogs. Both Ed and I had dogs growing up. He’s got one now, and I have 3. Mine are spoiled 100 pound monsters! So, we are pretty much ready for any dog that comes in here.

In comes 3 dogs. Two Weimaraners and a Collie mix. If you’ve never been around a Weimaraner, they are very energetic dogs that were originally bred for hunting, and are beautiful dogs.

We had so much fun with this shoot! We would get two dogs to listen, and the third would not cooperate. Or we would get the dogs, and their people were talking. The more people (and pets) you add to an image, the more of a challenge it is.

That being said, We had to include some of the outtakes. Those are always my favorites!
Charlene and John, thanks so much for bringing your furry family. I had a lot of laughs doing this shoot!

Little M

fun children's photos

This little guy has been coming to us since he was born. Every year we do his birthday photos as well as his Christmas photos with his older sister. His mom and I discuss briefly what the theme of the portraits will be. Mom isn’t much into the traditional, sit and pose formally images. She usually brings some kind of toys for the kids to play with and we just document that. These images will be her children, as she remembers them playing.

This year M turned 4. You may not think so, but 4 is so much older than 3. He is talking so much more. Telling us stories, and asking us to play with his diggers and dump trucks. Are you having fun? “totally” is his reply. haha

Mom always gets a book of the session. Not only are books a great way to get all or most of the images from your session, but it’s almost a yearbook of your child. You can look through each book and see the progression to toddler-hood to tween to teen to young adult. The books are the memories the children will have long after we are all gone. I am so honored to be a part of this family’s life and get to document the children growing up.

Lamberson Family

The Saturday after Christmas I got a text from our friend Angela from . Her friend Tatiana wanted to book a session. Her brother was in from boot camp, and was going back on Monday. It was a last minute decision to get the family’s photo done. Would we be able to do it? Absolutely! We went in the next day.

This family was so much fun! We all joked around during the shoot. Once we got what we needed, we gave them a challenge. Every time the flash goes off, you have 5 seconds to find a new pose.
This led to a lot of silliness and laughing. These ended up being some of their favorite images. We ended up making collages with these.

Thank you to the Lamberson family for being so cool! And thank you Angela for the referral!

Lauren-Snowy Senior Portraits

Lauren’s mom called us for an appointment for senior photos. The leaves had been long gone and the weather was colder. We decided to go to Moffat Estate, then back to the studio for the indoor images. The day of the shoot, mom called to see if we should still do the shoot. It had been snowing and she was worried about it being too cold or too snowy. I assured her that we would be fine to shoot and we would get some great images. Little did I know how great the images would be!

We took a little hike down to the covered bridges. I was still doing radiation, and had finished chemo not too long before this, so it did not take much for me to get out of breath. I made a couple short pit stops on the way down. When I caught up with the group, they were discussing angles and images.

Once we got everything at the bridge, we took a slow walk back up the hill, stopping to shoot along the way. Some of my favorite images are from this portion of the shoot.

Once we got back to the cars, we were able to warm up on the ride to the studio. One of the things I love the most about shooting seniors, is that we can make each session so different. We can use the same location and get so many different looks to it!

Valentine’s Day Mini Sessions

February 14th is Valentine’s Day. Who didn’t love the Valentine’s Day parties at school? You would make your little valentine holder and decorate it. Then you would walk around the room and deliver your valentines to the class. There was always a party, with cupcakes and cookies and other goodies. Party days at school were always the best! After you received all of your valentines, you would look though them all to see what you got. You would look to see who had the coolest valentines. Some were hand made, some were duplicates of others. Some had cool, popular characters from current movies. We think our valentines would qualify for the ‘cool’ pile. How can they not? They would star your child!

valentine's day promoJanuary 26 we are having a mini sessions day. The theme will be Valentine’s Day. These are quick little sessions. No session fees. For $75 you will receive 5-10 images to view, 1-8×10 for you, 2-5x7s, perfect for grandparents, and 24 wallets, great to hand out to the class for valentines! Wallets can be personalized, so the other students can be sure to remember your child! You will also receive 10% off any other prints purchased that day.

We do expect these sessions to book, so please call early to book your session. $75 is due at the time of booking.

We look forward to hearing from you!

The Lake House

This family came to us last year for photos. Actually, we came to them! They are from Jersey, but have a home up here that has been in the family for years. The house sits near a large pond, or small lake, whichever you prefer to call it. When I think lake, I think of the Paupack, so anything smaller than that is a pond. haha

This next image is probably my favorite from the session!

But, this family had such incredible images last time (such a gorgeous family!) that they gave us a call when they were planning their vacation for this year. Since we did the lake last year, let’s do something by the house, Tara said. Sounds good to us. Other than that, she pretty much gave us full reign!

Im not quite sure that the two little girls remembered us from last year, but the older one didn’t shy away, and even followed us along as we scouted out some places to shoot. The lighting was looking really good, so we started with the family in front of the house and then moved around. We made sure to take time out for a “silly break” when the kids were looking bored.

The son loves his tractor, and when they are there for the summer, he rides it around, so we made sure that we had some shots of him on that with mom! Mom even talked her cousin and his boy into jumping into the last shot – the men with their rifles. We went a little more dramatic with that one.

This family is awesome! Before we left, we were talking about what we can do different for next year. We can’t wait!

Early to Rise

We have been wanting to do another water shoot all year. After our heat wave towards the end of May, we decided that maybe the water was warm enough to try it. Now, to find a victim. Oops! I mean model! Emily was all into it, and even went shopping for some new dresses. I decided that I wanted this one to be an early morning shoot. I am NOT a morning person, but I knew it would be worth it for the lighting that we’d get. But, at 5am Emily was at the door and we were off!

We got to the lake and the lighting was just as we thought it would be; nice cool blue tones. Just as we got to the water a snake slithered by in the water! I have been at that lake my whole life and have never ever seen a water snake. Maybe because I’m not up at 5:30! :)

One thing I completely forgot about, was that the water would be high. It always is in the spring. There was no beach like we were planning on. So, we worked with what we had. Emily climbed up on the rock and worked it.

The sun was quickly coming up, and the snake was probably long gone by now, so it was time to get in the water. We did some shooting in the blue dress, then decided to change to the red one. She was starting to get a little more confident, and really started getting into it as she worked the poses.

We had a lone fisherman trolling around in the background. I think he was trying to figure out what the heck was going on!  In no time, we were finished and left him to his fish. I think Emily did an awesome job!

The Ham

Amy came over for some Mother’s Day photos with her two kids. We met Amy through Arabesque, the dance studio that we work with, so we already knew her daughter. Never met her son, but we won’t forget him! We had so much fun at this shoot! Plus, he’s a Jeff Gordon fan, so that gets him extra points in my book! haha

Mother's Day Photos

He LOVED having his photos taken. He did everything we asked him to do and then some. He wanted to get a little crazy at the shoot, so we let them do some silly faces…

Amy told us that her son said we were the funnest. That’s what we like to hear! I think he just scored a few more points! :)
